Fire Your Clothes Dryer

Do you get tired of your high electric bills? Did you know that the common household dryer is one of the BIGGEST consumers of electricity in your house?
By not using an electric clothes dryer, we have calculated that a one person household will save $96.00/year (100 kilowatts @ $.08/KW per month times 12 months per year). A family of 4 is estimated to save $576/year (600 kilowatts @ $.08/KW per month times 12 months).
Fire Your Clothes Dryer is a project that hopes to help ease those monthly electric bills!. Each qualified applicant may receive 2 indoor drying racks if they rent or plan to move OR one outdoor clothes line and one indoor drying rack if they own their home or do not have plans to relocate at the time of installation.
The life of the outdoor clothes lines and indoor drying racks is estimated to be 40 years. Using that time frame, estimated savings per family of 4 over the 40 year time frame is $23,040/household or $3840 for single person households. Each family will be able to use available income that typically goes to pay for clothes drying for other purposes.
Drying your clothes outdoors is great for the environment and each household decreasing their dependence on the electrical grid will potentially reduce costs for electricity by lessening peak demands.
Last year, this project distirbuted 200 clothes lines, and 200 drying racks to households across nothern Missouri! This year, we pan to give out 150 more! Contact us to learn if you qualify for a free outdoor clothes line or a free indoor drying rack!
