Fire Your Clothes Dryer

With this project, outdoor clothes lines and indoor drying racks are given away so that people stop using their clothes dryers and save electricity. Clothes drying is one of the largest consumers of electrical kilowatts each month. Learn More...

Community Gardens

Another project is a very large scale community garden project which will be located on land owned by the First Christian Church just north of the food pantry in Grundy County. Green Hills Community Action Agency seeks members of the general public to sponsor needy families for $150/year to plant individual, small gardens. Garden seeds, hoes, and soil amendments will be provided for participants. Interested persons wishing to plant a garden or sponsor a family are asked to call Terri Henderson at 660-359-3907.

Put A Little Green In Your Life

The final project, being managed by the Energy Services Department of GHCAA, is an educational and advocacy project to teach the public how to live green. Terri Henderson, Department director, conducts many seminars and workshops throughout 9 counties. In addition, energy services personnel present at schools to teach children how to adopt green living principles in their own homes and lives. Learn More...

 

On the Horizon

Proposals for Energize Missouri are also being submitted by the Energy Services Department for weatherization monies for 40 low-income client homes. This project involves green jobs for 6 - 8 people. Another program is in the works one to hire ex-offenders to reclaim architectural salvage for re-use, repurposing, and recycling from CSBG homes to be demolished to keep lumber out of landfills.
